Issues
What I Stand For:
Economic Growth: Supporting local businesses to aid the startup phase; funding opportunities for startups through microloans and shared testing facilities; Artificial Intelligence will make an impact on our every day lives whether we like it or not, so we will adapt and ensure it is used in an ethical manner to advance our understanding of the world, communicate with each other better and make our businesses more efficient.
Education: Funding STEAM education throughout the state; advocating for teacher’s benefits and salaries; These are some of the aspects I have seen in my own education growing up in the area and think we can offer more opportunities to enable students and researchers innovations can be supported in primary, secondary, and post-secondary educational stages.
Housing Accessibility: Supporting sustainable development in the state - not allowing price gauging and advocating for migrants. There are many opportunities to be specific with how and where these affordable housing initiatives can be provided. I will continue supporting first-time home buyers financial assistance.
Mental and Behavioral Health Advocacy: Still reeling from the effects of COVID-19, there is a rise of mental health issues, loneliness, depression and anxiety. Just like the state would react to a pandemic, I will support the epidemic of these issues regarding mental health and accessibility to physiatrists.
Environmental Stewardship: Climate change is real. Colorado is no stranger to the effects and I want to ensure we remain an active and outdoor-accessible part of Colorado. Ever since I was young, I picked up trash on the trails and continue to support those who do the same. We need to reach near-zero net carbon emissions. In building certain buildings or in certain areas an increase in tax incentives for building with energy efficient and environmental-friendly building materials will assist in reaching that goal.
Beyond these, I am an outdoorsman and think there are opportunities to ensure something like the Cameron Peak or Marshall Fires (which caused an estimated $513 million in damage to properties) don’t happen again by supporting hunters and fisherman while assisting local fire authorities.
In addition, medical service providers need to collaborate with one another more in order to ensure smoother transitions and more complete care for patients. I will fight for those who want complete care and those who provide it. A family member of mine is a nurse with 30+ years of experiences and I see the kind of toll it takes on them - I want to fight for nurses and doctors and their treatment, especially when they put their lives on the line, daily.
Police officers and other first responders deserve a lot more credit then they are given. The amount of difficulties a police officer faces in training and on the job to properly do their job (with the minimal pay for the extent of responsibility) is unjust. I want to fight for better training for officers and better benefits for all first responders.
